I spent this past weekend with my three daughters and six of my eight grand-kids. We spent a leisurely afternoon driving around north Georgia, leaf looking. This has always been one of our favorite fall past-times, and the day was beautiful. On the way to look at the Tate mansion , we stopped at the old train depot at Tate. It reminded me so much of the depot in Canton. Years ago, probably in the 70’s, my husband and I stopped to look at the one in Canton. We marvelled that noone had used the beautiful old wood from the floors and walls, as well as the doors, windows and other fixtures. We even thought we might look into buying some of the materials. A few days later we passed by it again and it was gone! They had demolished it. We were so mad, it looked like nothing had been salvaged. It was just a pile of rubble bulldozed to the ground. So sad that a rich part of our past was just wiped out.  Several small towns, such as Woodstock and Holly Springs have renovated and now use their old depots. I wish Canton had.

Anyway, the one in Tate is still standing, but it doesn’t look like it will be for long unless someone steps up to save it. We at least got a few pictures. When my daughter posted them on facebook, several relatives and friends mentioned they live nearby. Next trip we will make it our goal to try to visit them all. I feel a progressive dinner coming on y’all. So get ready for our next Georgia roadtrip.

Yay, I found my pictures I thought I had lost. When I refreshed my camera it put the day’s photos in a different spot.

Visited both castles in Southern Germany today and lost pictures on my kindle. So, I only have Hohenschwangau. 

I knew it would happen. Got to Europe with things I don’t need and missing things I do. Did not need the grey pants (only used them once so far). Did need more short sleeve shirts (warmer than anticipated). Also did need tennis shoes and handles. Still, I have the least amount of luggage of the group, but could have done better. Next time I will pack everything so I can find each thing without having to search for it. This is true especially if you move around a lot.

This morning we left Switzerland and drove through a beautiful valley on the way to Liechtenstein. We walked to the castle but since it is privately owned we couldn’t go inside. I was surprised the tiny country is not the top of a mountain. Vaduz, the capital of this little country is so pretty, with twisting and turning streets that you could easily get lost. Fortunately it is so small you find yourself soon enough. We shopped a little and had lunch then moved on to Fussen Germany. We will be going to Neuschwanstein castle tomorrow.

Have had an amazing time in Switzerland. Pictures can’t do it justice.
